Job Duties:
Independently and effectively establish community partnerships and collaborate with those partners to schedule and deliver community events that meet grant outcomes.
Use creative, evidence-based educational practices to develop, implement, evaluate and revise curricula that facilitate the accomplishment of the grant outcomes and meet learning needs of the participants. Outcomes include promotion of healthy aging, prevention of dementia, quality care for those living with dementia, and improving workforce needs in the care of older adults.
Critically analyze the participant responses during community events and quickly and effectively adapt presentations, agenda and activities to meet the identified needs of those participants.
Work effectively with those from different socioeconomic backgrounds from the applicant to establish and successfully deliver community-based events.
Uses expertise in nursing education to educate undergraduate nursing students in the care of older adults in long-term care settings.
Collaborates with the team to provide training that improves dementia care such as Positive Approach to Care, Virtual Dementia Tour, etc.
Mentor select faculty in the development of clinical teaching skills for long-term care settings.
Interacts with learners in a manner conveying respect, sensitivity and passion for their achievement of learning outcomes. This position requires travel to grant events throughout eastern NC, with the employee responsible for arranging their own transportation. Position will be occasionally expected to accommodate after normal business hours. This is a time-limited, part-time position, 12 hours per week.Special Instructions To Application:

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of experience in the area of specialization.

Organizational Unit Overview:
The mission of the college is to serve as a national model for transforming the health of rural underserved regions through excellence and innovation in nursing education, leadership, research, scholarship and practice.
The purpose of this project is to provide for the geriatric workforce and older adults with education and training to enhance healthy aging, improve dementia care, prevent dementia and increase the number of new graduates who choose long-term care for employment. The purpose will be accomplished by delivery of standard programs and developing and implementing education and training in the program required topics that meets grant outcomes. This project builds on previous work and will focus on Tribal, Tribal Organizations, Underserved and Rural regions of eastern NC. Collaborations with Area Agencies on Aging, Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, and County Senior Centers will support the development of community-based education and the engagement of the participants. Professionals (students and practicing healthcare professionals) will be engaged through relationships established previously with stakeholders. This grant is part of an extremely complex interdisciplinary project led by partners at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and others across North Carolina.About East Carolina University
